The previous City Manager, Ron Alles, retired from the City on June 30, 2018. Following Mr. Alles’ retirement, the City engaged, with the assistance of a consultant, in a nation-wide search to find a new city manager. At a meeting open to the public, on November 11, 2018, the City Commission voted to select Ana Cortez as the top candidate for the City Manager position. The City Commission also voted to authorize Commissioners Haladay and O’Loughlin to negotiate an employment agreement with Mrs. Cortez.
During this process, the City contracted with Dennis M. Taylor to act as the City’s Interim City Manager. Per Mr. Taylor’s contract with the City, Mr. Taylor’s contract will terminate ten (10) business days after Mrs. Cortez’s start date to facilitate the transition of authority from Mr. Taylor to Mrs. Cortez.
Mrs. Cortez has signed the agreement that has been negotiated by Commissioners Haladay and O’Loughlin that outlines Mrs. Cortez’s terms of employment by the city and specifies a start date of January 23, 2019. |
